Current opportunities

Mission: To unlock the value of data for sports, governments and brands, and with this shape more active and engaged communities.

Across the APAC region ActiveXchange collaborates with approximately 500 client partners, the majority of which use the ActiveXchange data intelligence platform to inform important planning, investment and operational decisions, and shape funding and commercial partnerships. ActiveXchange is responsible for securely processing and enhancing data on over 5 million sport and recreation member and participant records across Australasia, transforming this into exciting and high impact intelligence. This is unique and unprecedented within the region. And we’re only just at the start of the journey!

ActiveXchange’s primary regions are APAC (with a focus on Australia and New Zealand), UK and Europe, and North America.

The opportunity

This requires a proven industry leader who has a deep appreciation and interest in establishing a precedent for how data can be better leveraged throughout community sport, and how the sport sector can better align itself and collaborate with commercial partners (as well as all tiers of government). The next phase of the ActiveXchange’s strategic plan is heavily focused on driving commercial opportunities and returns for sport at scale through the progressive and joined-up use of data.

Applicants for this role should have existing experience of working at or with national sport/government partners and commercial brands/agencies (ideally on the rights buyer side), and have a solid understanding of the current and emerging data, digital media and marketing needs of these organisations. Experience relating to sponsorship and digital rights is also advantageous.

As the Executive General Manager (APAC) you are responsible for driving strategic and commercial outcomes across the region, developing and leading the existing team. This involves delivering against budget and strategy and achieving year-on-year uplift through new business, market share expansion and existing customer success.

You will confidently represent the organisation at regional and national-level events and conferences. As a leader in the industry you will continue to shape ActiveXchange’s network of partners and clients across APAC, focusing on how value and cross-industry collaboration can be discovered and scaled. This will involve creating working groups, consulting with industry peers and professionals and presenting in a variety of forums.

This is also an opportunity to work closely alongside ActiveXchange’s network of existing in-market advisors and associates, including Alexandra Ash (Chair of ActiveXchange APAC and CEO of YMCA Australia), XV Capital Advisory (Stirling Mortlock and James Godfrey), James Ellender (Head of Fandom, AFL) and Simon Haire (government sport advisor).

Key responsibilities

  • You will promote a collaborative and inclusive approach to problem solving, ensuring that existing knowledge and expertise are well balanced with a view forward.
  • You will represent the needs of the region when working with internal Group services, including marketing, product and finance.

  • Ensure all day-to-day systems operate smoothly and align with our quality standards through collaboration with the Executive team and other regional GMs (achieving consistency and best practice sharing between regions).
  • Ensure Group policies and procedures are maintained in the region, and the use of corporate templates is adopted (legal, security, branding etc).
  • Coordinate day-to-day project management and coordination of new and existing projects and initiatives ensuring prioritisation of tasks across the whole team and to the mutual benefit of all involved – this will involve working closely with the COO where shared global resources are required.
  • Outline risks and mitigation strategies to keep projects on track and work closely with cross-functional team members for hand-offs.
  • Proactively support Finance to ensure debtors pay on time to aid cash flow.

  • Identify potential funding opportunities from within your region and work to progress these alongside the Group Executive.
  • Report into quarterly Board meetings on the performance, future plans and requirements of your region.
  • Attend and often speak at a range of industry events.

Remuneration

  • Highly competitive salary, staff benefits, and with potential for share options based on personal and business performance. Start date is negotiable, ideally by start 2026.
